I'm Karla Rivaflecha. I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education at Florida State University. I am originally from Miami, FL but am very much enjoying Tallahassee. I currently work at a leasing office for student housing and I absolutely love it, however, when I am older I hope to move to a greater area of Florida to become either a school psychologist (middle or high school) or a child psychologist (of all ages). Once I obtain my bachelor's next year in August, I might take up the opportunity to teach, preferably younger, elementary school, children. I love to travel with my family and my boyfriend. We love going to theme parks in Orlando, especially Disney World. I like to consider myself a wanderlust because I am always planning trips after trips without even having gone to the first one.
I have been using technology my whole life. I grew up playing games online such as Disney games and Nickelodeon kids. I also loved MP3 players and owned many of them. I grew up searching the web for music streams to download music onto my MP3s. I also had multiple Nintendo DSs and Play Stations. Overall, I think I played more with technology than outside with other kids my age. Now, I use technology every day from the moment I wake up till when I go to sleep. I need it for work and school and even just for every day entertainment.
Technology is taking over the world and the upcoming generations of children will feed off technology. This class will very well prepare me for different ways I can use technology to my advantage to educate children. I also believe it might help me become familiar with apps and websites that are used daily by teachers to enlighten teaching and make lessons more eye-appealing. The way you dress says a lot about a person but the way you dress your lessons says a lot about your interest in educating your students.
