Let's take a look at Ernest R. Graham K-8 Academy's website! I can assure you this website has changed very much since I was in elementary school. It has become very bubbly and pleasing to the eye. It consists of the new school colors and they do correlate very nicely. Previously, this website was very dull as its colors consisted of hunter green, yellow, and white. Interestingly enough, there is no specific area of the website that is blocked off for teachers only. Rather, they have a Login button where you are given the option to create your own account. Perhaps teachers access their portals through there and it opens a separate link for teachers than for parents. Everything on this site is public and it shows access to great academic tools and school information such as materials by grade level, bell schedule, departments, club information and even food menus by days. There are also great tools for parents such as PTA, after-school, the school newsletter, etc.

I myself am not quite the blogger. I started to blog because of this class and after 6 blog posts, I have come to say that it is pretty easy! I am not used to having a set topic to talk about on a day by day basis. I like blogging cause I feel as if it is casual and I can speak freely, however, sometimes I don't like blogging cause I don't know when enough is enough. I sometimes feel as if I should write more than what I usually do, nonetheless, when I check other blogs, they sometimes have less writing in it.

I believe that I didn't learn much from the Web Evaluation. I feel as if the Web Evaluation is a mental checklist I complete every time I choose to incorporate a source into an essay or speech. I feel like it is something more needed by a beginner student learning about reliable sources. Nonetheless, I feel as if I could make the Web Evaluation more informative and have more checklist items if I wanted to.

  1. Hey Karla,
I like how you chose to evaluate the school you attended's website, because you were able to see how it progressed and was made more efficient since you were there. I also find blogging interesting because it is more casual, but I believe that is also why I some times find it more difficult because I am so used to writing in a more formal way.

  2. Hey Karla! I like how updated your past school's website is! I also like that you chose a school that you once attended! I think they have definitely kept up with their website which I feel I do not see much. I think it is super important because typically the website is what many new students go to first and if it not updated and pleasing it can lead to negative feelings about the school. I have learned to like blogging more as well! Being new to everything can make it difficult just because of the unfamiliarity but it has been a good experience thus far for me as well!
